Summer Homework June 7, 2010 Yesterday I went to the Teatro Nacional Manuel Bonilla with my friends to see a jazz performance. It was a great experience because the dances they were performing where from the songs of West Side Story and from Michael Jackson. It was very fun and we wished Ms. Davis was there to see it because of the movie we saw when we were studying Romeo and Juliet in class. Some of the songs they performed where: Somewhere Maria, America and I Feel Pretty. There where performers of every age there were very little girls that looked very cute dancing in their costumes, and big girls that danced with class and style. I really enjoyed being there because one of our friends, Andrea, was part of that show. She played the part of Maria in some of the dances. Finally, this was a great show and I wish we had more shows like this in Honduras because they are interesting and it is really good to see the talent that we have got here.
This is the cover of the programme they gave us
June 14, 2010 Today, I am Reading a book called Bratfest at Tiffany’s by Lisi Harrison. This is the fourteenth book of the Clique series. I have read all the series and I am still missing the last three books that I will be reading throughout the summer. I am in page 182; I started reading a few days ago that is why I haven’t finished the book. So long it is the beginning of classes at OCD (Octavian Country Day School). Before summer it was an all girl’s school, but because Briarwood Academy, an all boys school suffered severe damages, both schools merged and became a single coed school. Massie which is the leader of the group decided to put the rest of the girls, Alicia Claire Kristen and Dylan, on boyfast. None of the girls liked this idea but they had to go with the flow. Because OCD had too much people there was an overflow and some of the people had to go away to take classes on old and stinky trailers this was called the overflow. All the friends except Alicia had to take classes in the trailers. While Alicia was in the Main building she flirted with her crush, Josh. Massie found out about this and kicked Alicia out of the friends circle. Alicia cried and is very sad. Massie did not want to feel like a looser in the trailers so she hired Effy to remodel everything. She made the trailers look like gigantic Tiffany and Co. gift boxes. I believe that is why the book has the title “Bratfest at Tiffany’s”. Alicia is jealous and A LOT. This is the last part I read, and I really like this book. I am hoping to finish it soon.
Week three I finished reading Bratfest at Tiffany’s it was an excellent book. I loved it. At the end of this book Massie Who is the leader of the clique decided to end boyfast because she had a crush on Dempsey. Alicia reconciled with her friends and they decided to become BFFWC (best friends forever with crushes). This book was so good that I already started reading the next book in the series called P.S. I Loathe You. Massie is really in love with Dempsey but she is not sure id Dempsey likes her, no one is. Layne who is Kristen’s secret BFF also likes Dempsey and asked her to try and convince Massie about not liking Dempsey anymore. Kristen is really confused and does not know what to do because if she helps Layne she will be betraying Massie and will be kicked out of the clique, but if she helps Layne she will also get help with her crush which is Layne’s cousin. Alicia is going well with her crush Josh Hotz. Dylan is starting to have a crush on Massie’s ex-boyfriend Derrick Harrington, and I think Derrick likes her as well but I am still unsure of what Massie will think about this. Massie is able to do anything to get to her crush Dempsey and because he is going to try out for the soccer team Massie is going to start the first Cheerleading squad at OCD. I hope she has good luck with that.
Week four I just saw a very good movie called The Last Song. Miley Cyrus appears in this movie. I think she acts really well. I cried during the last part of the movie. This movie is great I recommend it to anyone. IT is about Ronnie (Miley) is moving with her dad for the summer. Her dad lives in the beach in a very nice house. Lately Ronnie had become misbehaved and lousy with her life she was accepted into Julliard, a very prestigious university, and she did not want to go there. She had been fighting with her dad all summer long. She then met a guy named William and she fell in love with him. All the girls around where jealous because William was very handsome and a very good guy. They spent every day together they even saved a turtle’s nest. Ronnie did not fight with her dad anymore they got along pretty well, but the night the turtle’s nest eggs cracked everything changed. Her father started dying and she had to take him to the hospital and found out that her dad had lung cancer because a long time ago he had accidentally burned a church, and it was the fire and smoke and everything that had caused him that severe illness. Will found out that Ronnie’s dad felt really guilty about what he had done to the church and told his friend to confess what he had really done. After this Ronnie got really mad a t will and broke up with him because he had kept that a secret for so long. A month later Ronnie’s dad dies, and at his funeral she plays a song he had composed in the piano.
Week Five Today I am reading a book named Classy by Derek Blasberg. It contains every detail on how to be a lady in modern days. It talks about everything a lady should know from how to travel to what books to read. There are examples of how to be a lady and how to be a tramp that no one wants to be. First it speaks about how to dress, like what type of body you have. It also speaks about how to pack your bag like a clutch and an everyday hand bag. Then on the next chapters it talks about how to throw a party and some party themes the one I most like is the come as you are theme because you have to go to the party as you are dressed when you receive the invitation. It would be really funny to try that out, but I think no one would actually apply the rules. The next chapter is about how to travel. One of the sections of this chapter is about how to pack your bag, this was very helpful because I am going on a trip next week. I haven’t finished reading this book but it is very interest and I am definitely will be finishing it after my trip.
Week Six Today I am leaving Honduras and coming back until the seventh of august. I will be leaving to New York then to Switzerland and then to Rome, after that I will go to camp for two weeks. In New York I am only staying one day. That day we arrived to New York like at 10 pm that night and we went directly to the empire state. The view of New York at night is so beautiful and it is very true that it is the city that never sleeps it was like 12 in the morning and there was still traffic in some areas. Next morning we woke up and went to central park we walked around Times Square and did not have that much time left because we had to catch our plane at 4 so we went back to the hotel and left for the airport. The airplane to Zurich was 8 hours long and very boring. WE arrived to Zurich and then took a train to Lugano where my grandma lives the next days we went to Rome but I am not going to write about this part because I barley spoke English.
Week Seven and Eight-CAMP The first day all campers arrived to Zurich airport everyone was new to each other there where people from all around the world because this camp was for Swiss people Abroad. And yes I am Swiss. There where people from Mongolia, China, Argentina, Italy, United States, Belgium, Spain, Mexico, Canada, and France. In total there where 24 campers and 6 counselors. I had an awesome time in this camp it was the best days in summer. The language in common everybody had was English so I only spoke English for those 2 weeks.
By the second day i knew almost everyone’s names. The third day was only day of travel we were in different trains and traveled a lot. We were going to go through a different and shorter route but it wasn’t possible because there was a mountain slide, and it was very dangerous. When we arrived to our destination we took the lift. We were in the Alps there was no snow but in the surrounding, higher mountains we could see snow. That night i got sick :( i had a fever and my through hurt a lot i went to bed early...the next morning everyone left to the glacier except for me and a counselor i slept until 11 am... Seeing the glacier was a once in a lifetime opportunity so we decided to go the glacier but instead of taking the 4 hour hike the other ones took i just saw it from the top of the mountain. The aletshergletcher (glacier) is so beautiful it was also a great opportunity to see the Matterhorn, the other ones could not see it because early in the morning when they got up it was very cloudy but when i got up it was just perfect. After we met up with everyone in the train station
After the Alps we took a train and then slept near the thuner see a very large lake. Our rooms where always very big all 12 girls slept in the same room and the boys slept in the room beside. That night the counselors were like "ok go take a shower" when we got to the communal showers we waited like 10 minutes for the water to get hot then We asked a counselor and she said "sorry no warm showers tonight" we were all very sad. I believe no one took a shower it was very cold outside and we could get sick. That night we had a campfire it was very comforting and nice we sang songs around the fire.
The next day we visited the "Swiss abroad" park it was very nice. It was raining but we had raincoats so we did not get wet. Next we took a boat to lucerne.
Next morning they told us we were rafting we were so exited!! According to forecast that days climate was going to be horrible but it was pretty wrong it was a beautiful day! We put on our bathing suits and we were ready! We had to take a mini course on how to things in the raft etc. The. We had to carry the boats to the river the where soooooo heavy boys where the only ones who helped. We had so much fun that day. We had life vests so we swam in the Aare river it was so cold!! 18 degrees! The current was pretty strong so we just floated. We rowed all the way to Bern. It was an exhausting 4 hours in total we rowed 25.6 km.
Next day we went to the bieler see a lake in Switzerland. We arrived and we wanted to swim in the lake what we dint know was that the lake was really cold but we had a great time :). For dinner we ate hamburgers cooked in a campfire so they were delicious! That night we slept outside like literally outside we had our sleeping bags in the grass and we looked up at the stars all night long, i only found the big dipper. In the morning we woke up and everyone was wet because of the dew it was an awesome experience.
Next day we biked. This day was very tiring because we biked for like four hours we only stopped for thirty minutes and ate lunch. We biked 40 km. Fortunately it started raining so we went to a little train station and took the train to our final destination. When we arrived it was 3 pm so we still had much left of our day. They told is we were sleeping in a barn so no one was so happy. We hiked for like an hour and finally arrived to the barn it was pretty nice from the outside. There was a trampoline and some emus. We were tired so we went to bed early we literally slept in hay in the morning our hair was full of hay.
I know that the few days I wrote don’t make 2 weeks but those where the most exiting days, if not it would be too much.
